Hardcore 6

We hope you get the pun because we took a while to come up with a suitable name for this post. Coming up with a title that totally sums up this car is quite difficult. To be honest the amount of adjectives that can be used might be as long as a housewife's shopping list.

Never have I woken up before the break of dawn to shoot a car, that alone was quite the experience seeing this monster of a car rip up the streets in the wee hours of the day. While the car ticked itself cool my mind wandered to the first day I caught a glimpse of this car. Back then it was Black on Black and it looked extremely sinister. I just loved it so much that when it appeared on the front page of the classifieds I cut it up and stuck it on my wall.
As much as I love the black on black theme, the cars current color combination has made it very popular. Trend setting the way for brightly colored wheels would be a start but its the massive horsepower figures that has made this car almost mysterious. Its like folklore, we know such a thing exists but its still unbelievable.
At first glance anyone can say that this car doesn't look like a road car. Its more like a full blown race car but with a back seat, air conditioning and a stereo!
Massive stickers pay homage to some of the biggest names in the tuner industry!
Name's like MoTec and Tomei mean serious business when it comes to Automotive tuning...
Leaving the stickers alone there are other things that hint that this Evo 6 is no ordinary Evo.
Things which we will get on to later!
But first is first, we need to dig deeper as to what makes this car so popular. What makes this gauge dance like a little kid on a sugar rush?
Its thanks to this! Finding a component from the 4G63T engine that has been left untouched would be quite an achievement as so much has been done to gain astonishing levels of Horsepower. Close to an insane 600 of them in fact. Its 2.3 Ltr stroked Engine with race Pistons,Rods,Crank and Bearings can handle up to 2.0 bar of boost.
A Garrett GT35 Turbocharger coupled with a Full Race exhaust manifold helps create the massive boost. A larger AEM front mount inter cooler helps with intake air cooling.
A full custom back box with 3 inch piping completes the exhaust system.
Okada Plasma Ignition coils sure do look good. They are needed to produce the spark required to burn the fuel pumped in by the equally massive 1600cc injectors.
Tomei Camshafts, Lifters,Springs and Cam Sprockets, Custom JUN intake with bigger throttle body have been installed too. A complete specification list has been provided at the end of this post.

A racing fuel cell from SARD feeds the injectors safely and quickly.
An AEM water methanol injection system helps reduce intake air temperatures further. System can be controlled easily from within the cabin.

With massive horsepower, you need massive stopping power!
Sitting behind the immense 18inch OZ alloys are large Brembo calipers coupled with a set of AP Racing lightweight rotors and pads.

The rear end is totally taken up by the massive wing that aids with down force.
The Carbon Voltex wing may not be to everyone's taste but it helps personify this Evo as something a little bit more special.

Not everyone may notice but this car is sporting a wide body kit too. Its probably the only Evo in the country to have such bodywork.

From the front things look as mean as the rear.

Massive Carbon canards help the car slice through the wind, quite sharp to the human touch as well!

The combination of the wider body, massive wheels and the enormous GT wing help give this car a very aggressive stance.

The interior of this car is as serious as its exterior.

A full custom roll cage is just enough to show you this car means business. I mean how many road cars do you see rolling around with something like that. Maybe because it hinders access to the rear. Nevertheless a whole bank of gauges and a new steering wheel are most noticeable mods in the interior department.

A close ratio shifter has been installed too, an Ogura twin plate clutch and RS rear differential complete the drive line mods that have been installed to handle the power.

Defi is a brand predominantly used in the Boost world. They make extremely good looking gauges that are extremely accurate albeit it comes with a massive price tag.

I just dont want to think how much Chris spent on 6 of them! Water Temperature, Oil Temperature and Exhaust Temperature are monitored by these.

All of them kept in line by this nifty little controller.

A boost gauge has been positioned neatly in front of the driver so he knows how much Insanity is been pumped through his engine!

The suede OMP steering wheel is mainly there to let the driver hang on to something when insanity kicks in!

More gauges!

Add to that, the passenger (Who probably would be shivering in his boots) has full view of the Apex AVCR!

The extremely good looking RECARO seats have been left for good measure.

But a pair of TAKATA race harnesses help keep occupants in them!

To sum it all up then, this is one hell of a car. Chris has taken something that is quite mad even out of the box and taken it to a whole new level. Since this car broke cover we've seen a lot more high horsepower builds on the streets and that's a good thing.

But its the elusive factor of this car that makes it little bit more cooler. For most people this blog post might be the only way they get to see the car, hopefully Chris changes his mind and takes the car out more often.

And I shall leave you with this one. If you ever catch a glimpse of this car on the road, roll your windows down and just watch it fly past you. Lets hope Octane Heads can feature more insane and crazy cars like this in the years to come. Massive thanks to Chris DeBruins and Ryan Jansz for making this post a reality.
