Mighty Mini's Fun Rally!

People laugh at me when I say that I wake up 6 in the morning on a Sunday! But I cant help it, I always seem to wake up early. But what sucks about that is waking up and realising you have nothing to do! But this Sunday was slightly different.......

A total of 23 Mini's were present at the annual event! Meeting point was this Auto AC repair centre in the name of Bullion Auto A/C. By the time I arrived everyone had turned up and the committee members were briefing the owners on the rally rules and regulations.....

Which meant I could grab some good shots of the lovely cars!!

First off was this bright Orange Mini with some nice fender flares!

 Mini's, Mini's everywhere!

How can you not like these cars? Probably one of the most iconic classic car the world over! I'm glad Sri Lanka has such a great interest in these cars!

That is quite a big Tach for a mini!

John Cooper, the legend behind the legendary Mini Cooper! Great man he was, and his great work is now carried on by his son Michael Cooper under the John Cooper Works (JCW) Branding.....

 Mini Estate anyone?

I personally love Black on cars! But If I was to have a Mini in another colour it would be White or the epic British Racing Green!

A very special car this! The only Innocenti Mini in Sri Lanka.... More on this later!

The fun rally was clearly a family event, it was nice to see little kids with their parents getting ready for the day ahead in their very cool cars!

 Planning out their route ahead!

Now this here was one epic car! Classic Clubman made to look like a 60's muscle car! So much win I tell you!

Shot of the interior! Looked pretty serious in there even had retro bucket seats like the ones on the old Mustangs!

Now lets take a quick peak at this white beauty! Looks pretty standard doesn't it?

Stock 1.3i Mini you must be thinking? Well you are so wrong if you thought that!

Yup your eyes are not fooling you!

The front end of the car has been extended to accommodate a turbo charged Toyota unit from the Starlet GT! But the best part was, the original looks of the Mini have been left stock making it a proper sleeper car....

It was such a sleeper, even the BOV couldn't be heard, neither did it have a very loud exhaust note! Only thing that might give it away is the neatly tucked in rear diffuser...

I'l be honest. I am truly and deeply in love with this car! It was just perfect! Enough said....

Moke anyone?

Everyone was very busy with their calculators and pens.....

 Got Dish?

Another lovely Moke..... Perfection right there....

A very cute yellow Mini that stood out from the crowd. Loving the wheel colour combo on this.

This car was quite cool too! It had a few mods to make it more modern. Even included Projection headlamps!

 This badge?

Or this one? I prefer this one....

The most used wheel design on Mini's.... with good reason too!

Cool T shirt eh? Note the number plate on the graphic....

Side view of the Muscle Mini!

 Oh what a face!

Question : Do you think Mini's look better on nice small wheels with fat rubber or big 13's with modern run flats?

Cos this car makes me think, Small wheels for the win!

One of two cars piloted by a lady driver!

The two BMW buddies! Thats my E36 with Sam's new E34.....

 Line em up boys!

The vast range of different badges on these cars are amazing....

 At the starting line....

There's my favourite car right there!

 Beauty aint she?

Cant help but post another one! Notice the Ivory white centres on the wheels! Lovely details....

Lovely colour combo this car had!

This car belonged to the oldest Mighty Mini member in the club!

 Another beautiful car this was....

Anyone notice the intricate web of roll cage inside this car?

Managed to grab some rolling shots!

This car too was lady driven!

And then it was time for us to follow the bunch to Biyagama too....

Oh yes, this is the Innocenti Mini we saw in the beginning of this post....

For those who don't know what this Innocenti Mini is all about let me explain. Its pretty much a Mini that was built for the Italian market. The Italians been Italians wanted everything on the little car a bit more stylish as they found the original a bit too plain. (Yes they are like that, even their cops wear Prada!) They even sported these Veglia gauges that were used on Ferrari's and Maserati's of the era.....

A very cool and original Mayfair!

This shot made me realise how small a Mini actually is....looks so timid even next to a Jap hatch back! But these Mini's have so much more character!

Mini or BMW? I'l have both Thank you very much!

Another shot of the very pretty Innocenti......

And after a good drive down some windy roads we ended in Biyagama where the rest had already arrived!

The beast hiding in a dark corner!

I shall leave you with this! Had an amazing day with the Mighty Mini Club! Big Thanks to Yasas Wickramanayake for the Camera. Also not forgetting Dhaminda Siriwardene for all the help and to Sam Smith as well.....
