Shark Attack!

After the much hype created by this picture here atlast is the full feature. I know it has been a really long wait, even  I was impatient to get cracking and finish this post, but continuous delays were evident with my shift to Malaysia and College keeping me busy. But here we are with Alex's amazing RX 8!

Why you may ask I have named this post Shark Attack is because ( Look at the picture) actually it resembles a great white! The body-kit, the smoked lights everything screams Jaws!

I fist met Alex ages ago, and at the time he was driving a Toyota IST. But what was more interesting was what he was riding! A very special Authentic Repsol Edition Honda CBR (Of huge capacity, which I shouldn't mention in public if you know what I mean). To this day he still owns it. I was lucky enough to snap his bike when I met him, and now here I am with his latest Possession!

The whole car has been kitted, which includes the front bumper, side skirts and rear diffuser. The kit also includes a very special spoiler which you will see later.

But what really makes this car stand out is the black vinyl on the roof and the hood. It really does bring out a difference especially because it contrasts with the white paint!

Something Alex loves is smoking his lights. Just to let you know he doesn't use his indicators, hence why he has smoked the whole head light dead dark! Oh he doesn't use his low beams either, his HID fog lamp conversion helps him see at night. Crazy!

Some humour from the owner, NO but seriously you hit, you die! So don't you even think about it!

From the rear end, the lovely two tone rear bumper takes the cake. The colour scheme has been used on the skirts and front bumper too, and it is a very nice touch.

It might not look so big, but that actually is a Mazda Speed exhaust! Couple that with the amazing rotary engine and you have an engine note to die for!

The wheels are still stock, but not to worry Alex has already sourced a very special set of Staggered deep dish wheels from the land down under. Sadly it hadn't landed in SL when we did the shoot, but don't worry I will get some shots when the car is rolling on them!

Something that is very popular over here in Malaysia is this cool little device. A F1 style 3rd brake light. Hit the slow pedal and you get a bunch of LED's flashing away! Nice, need to get one for mine too.....

This is the ultra cool spoiler i mentioned earlier. It consists of a boot lid lip and on top is an adjustable spoiler. A very good functional and cosmetic upgrade! You can also see how dark the smoked lights are. The bulbs inside have been converted to LED's to improve visibility.

All in all the the whole modification list ties in well with everything. Making this a very unique looking RX 8. Just wait till the new wheels are on! That will be the icing on the cake

Open Sesame! One of the cool features of the RX8 is the suicide rear doors! The design of the car did receive its fair share of criticism as supposedly it had too many details. Even Jezza complained that the boffin's at Mazda wanted a lot from just one car! But I don't care, I absolutely love this car. I don't think it is  as delicate and beautiful as its big brother the RX 7, but it still is a very attractive car.

Inside you get, Mazda's great sporty design finished in nice plastics and switch gear. There is enough space for four inside, though the rear seats might be slightly cramped for some.

The driver is welcomed with these lovely glowing gauges! Note the speedo is digital and the RPM is given more priority. You can easily hit 90 Km/h just on 2nd gear!

A close up of the Tachometer!

A cleverly designed engine start button. Anyone can recognise what that shape is?

Now this you must see. I haven't seen so many circles just one dash! Neat little details that are a nice touch!

Again the rotary piston shape has been even used on the short shift gear knob! I really loved the feel of this, it was nice and short and it had a very nice slick feel to it!

The original sound system on this is really good! Thanks to the factory fitted BOSE Audio speakers and tweeters music sounds so much better!

The lovely factory bucket seats. Leather was an option but, this seems better as you don't slide around a lot and it weighs so much less! Note the rotary symbol on the seat too!

I shall leave you with this shot! A big Thank you to Alex Darius for letting me shoot his pride and joy! And also for letting me drive it too! Hope you enjoyed. More action from the Sri Lankan car scene coming soon!
